Kirsten Vernon (formerly Dixson) is the personal brand biographer for enterprising leaders who are ready to take a stand and show up bigger in the next stage of their career!
One of personal branding’s pioneers, Kirsten is the coauthor of the seminal book on personal branding, Career Distinction (Wiley). For the past decade, she has been 100% dedicated to helping hundreds of smart, ambitious professionals get clear on their brand messaging to establish themselves as influencers (executives, consultants, speakers, authors, content creators) and/or launch their solo businesses.
With a powerful mix of personal branding, long-range career planning, tech savvy, and keen insight, Kirsten guides clients to think differently, courageously express their unique value, and focus on a niche in which they can be outstanding. She is constantly generating ideas and conceiving approaches and deeply enjoys collaborating to share joint creativity, optimism, and “light-bulb” moments. As a lifelong lover of international travel and avid reader of biographies, Kirsten finds it very gratifying to empower clients around the globe by writing their branded bios (a term she coined).
Through personally experiencing multiple career transitions, becoming a visible leader (while being a private introvert!), and designing her work around her ideal lifestyle, Kirsten empathizes with her clients’ challenges and desire for career autonomy. In fact, she became involved in the world of career management to help others take charge of their careers in the way she wished she had been taught before graduating from Vassar College and attempting to navigate her early marketing career.
On the journey, she earned a Certificate in Adult Career Planning and Development from New York University, and in 1997 started a career management business to have the flexibility she wanted as a mother of two daughters. In 2004 Kirsten became one of the world’s first Certified Personal Brand Strategists and transformed her business to fully focus on branding her clients online. From 2008-2013, she was also the sole facilitator of the Reach Personal Branding Certification Program and trained more Personal Branding Strategists (in 40+ countries) than any other person in the world. While Kirsten was serving as a Master Coach on a cutting-edge personal branding program for one of the big-four professional services firms, Kirsten first became known as the champion of the branded bio.
Now a recognized authority on branding yourself online, Kirsten appears nationally as a speaker and has been featured in Personal Branding for Dummies and The Twitter Job Search Guide. She was interviewed about social media etiquette on the TODAY Show and has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, MORE, Real Simple, Boston Globe, and Advertising Age.
